Openwork table - 2017
The challenge in this project was to create a form that is, on the one hand, filigree and delicate, and on the other — strong enough to support a heavy tabletop, the additional weight of objects placed on it, and at times even the pressure of a user leaning against it. The table illustrates a design solution that reconciles formal lightness with functional requirements and the inherent properties of wood. Key to achieving this were, among other factors, the joining of individual modules and the use of hard, durable oak. Still, the table also requires mindful use from its owner. The project was exhibited, among other venues, at BWA in Bydgoszcz in 2023.
